Winged Dragons

An enigmatic species, Winged Dragons are often viewed as the odd ones out in this world. Unwanted in both land and sea, they take territories of their own in Sunland. Little research has been done about these species, mostly due to their aggressive or reclusive nature. They are a species more in-tune with their inner beast, rejecting all society built around them.

Details
Origins
Exact point of existance are unknown. Some speculate that like the Sirens to the Merfish, Winged Dragons were an evolutionary branch from Sea Dragons, though the latter argues differently.
A researcher was curious enough to ask an amicable Winged Dragon. They have responded that the truth may already be long gone, as they as a species do not care for such history.
History
Dwellings discovered the existence of Winged Dragons, confusing them for Demonic Sea Dragons at first. However, Winged Dragons have long lived in Sunland and will defend their right to make it their home.
Fights between Sea Dragons and Winged Dragons are rare but not unheard of. A famous fight was between a red sea dragon and a red winged dragon, both demonstrating their firepower. The sea dragon won in the end, but destruction of the land was as consequence.
Culture
Specific Asian culture is unknown, though it has been observed that Winged Dragons will filter into cultures they seem appealing on their own accord, often adopting appropriate names.
Design
Universal design is as follows:
-
Bat-like wings
-
Sharp, spiked horns
-
Sharp, jagged teeth
-
Claws and talons
-
Breaths containing fire or other elements
-
Some have minimal clothing, some don't have clothes at all
Colors tend to be muted:
-
Chromatic = red, green, blue, yellow, white, and black
-
Metallic = bronze, silver, gold, copper, and brass
Terms
Chromatic = aggressive and territorial
Metallic = withdrawn and greedy
Habitat
A majority live on Sunland, residing in areas fit for their subspecies color. Most will be in forests and mountains.
Behaviorisms
Chromatic dragons are much more aggressive and territorial, often the ones to instigate fights with others. They find no issue with burning down anything that walks into their land. They may seek out dwellings or merfish to devour as well, but fear the Sea Emperors.
Metallic dragons are just as territorial, but are more withdrawn and do not seek fights unless necessary. They may have their own agendas though, often ready to steal and hoard rather than shed blood.
Diet
Carnivores
Reproduction
Will produce 1 egg at a time.
Dragons of different seas mating are not common, but the child will only be the color of one parent.
Communication
Winged dragons have their own language that has not been deciphered yet, however they will pick up languages surrounding them if they feel it necessary.
Hostility
No matter the temperment, all winged dragons will be hostile to other species and towards each other. Hostility is mostly based on territory and feeding patterns.
Threats
The biggest threat to winged dragons as a whole are sea dragons. While the two species will not choose to interact, if instigated there will be a guaranteed fight in their true forms.

Weaknesses

-
Recovery time can be a few hours to a few days.
-
Winged Dragons will use their breaths more often than spells.
Species Specific
Breath
As outlined in the Abilities, each color dragon has special breathability. Studies of winged dragon carcasses show that the magic is stored in a powerful core within the body, with energy produced by what the dragon particularly eats. For example, brass dragons that include a diet of magma can store that power into fire.
Damage to the throat to chest may stop the cones of death.
Different Forms
Winged Dragons only have two forms of transformation:
-
With legs and wings = the default form as it does not require ample amounts of energy to maintain
-
True Form = a full-winged dragon form, transforming into a large beast.
