The Royals of the world, Sea Dragons are the only species that can become Sea Emperors due to their ability to control water and rain. They are a powerful and beautiful race, all who can trace back their origins to their original sea dragon ancestors. Sea Dragons are heralded as being a sacred species, with respect already offered to them the moment they are born. No matter the sea dragon, ancient responsibility binds them to the oceans.

Details
Origins
Sea dragons originated from the Heavenly Descent. Being the most powerful species, they chose four sea dragons to steady the oceans and bring rain to the lands.
History
Sea Dragons are always the chosen rulers of each of the cardinal oceans at the turn of a new dynasty. Sea Dragon families prepare their own in case they are chosen to take up responsibility as a sea ruler.
Each Asian culture has their own sea dragon/serpent families that can take up the throne.
Culture
Within their own communities, Sea Dragons are often high-class society individuals who are taught to carry themselves with prestige. Some come off as otherworldly and some are merely haughty. They are not fighters or adventurers, but are powerful enough to sway matters into their own hands.
No matter the character of a sea dragon, it is always bad luck to disrespect one, as misfortune or disgrace can fall upon the instigator and their family for insulting their protector.

Universal design is as follows:

Magic
Abilities
-
Are born with magic.
-
Can manipulate water and rain. Sea Emperors can control entire oceans and skies.
-
Can change forms easily.
-
Each ocean has a special magical ability:
-
East = plants
-
South = fire
-
West = metal
-
North = ice (has the strongest ability to control water)
-
-
Can cultivate magic quicker than others.
Weaknesses
-
Other sea dragons can combat magic.
-
Powerful demons.
-
Loss of the dragon pearl will strip dragons of all magic.
Limits
-
Sea dragons have an ample supply of magic.
-
Recovery time can be a few hours to a few days.
-
Sea dragons work with what is already present in nature. They cannot create life or do feats of miracles.

Species Specific
Dragon Pearl
The dragon pearl is the most important magical instrument of a sea dragon. They are born with their own pearl, and through it they can perform powerful concentrated magic.
Dragon pearls can be hidden and summoned upon will, stored away in a pocket of magic.
Pearls are hard to break but not impossible to destroy. Cracked pearls weaken the sea dragon. The destruction of a pearl strips sea dragons of all magic and leaves them weakened and in a state of distress. Pearls can be given to another dragon, but a broken pearl can never be fixed. Lending a pearl will not allow a dragon to regain all their abilities back.
Different Forms
Sea Dragons have a multitude of forms they can be in:
-
With legs and tail = the default form. Sea dragons can swim just as quickly as Merfish even with legs
-
Legs only = reserved for the land
-
Merfish tail = the tail is structured like a Merfish but design resembles their dragon tail
-
Elongated tail = the Merfish tail but elongated dramatically and can coil
-
True Form = a full sea dragon form, transforming into a large beast. The Sea Emperors are the largest dragons
